Eric Li-Koo

British Drone Racing Association and the World Air Sports Federation

Eric has been a part of the BDRA — British Drone Racing Association since its inception ten years ago, and has sat on the sub-committee for Drone Sport at the FAI — World Air Sports Federation for a similar length of time. Through these voluntary roles he has advocated and developed the sport from grass roots all the way up to international competition, culminating in the establishment of ‘TeamGB’ to represent us at international competition, and the inclusion of Drone Racing as one of the events at the International World Games in Chengdu this summer — which was only the second time that Drone Racing had been included in the games.

Eric has a technology and engineering background and sees the massive opportunities that Drone Sports can offer our young people and, in turn, our economic potential and stability — practical and transferable STEM skills will be invaluable for careers not just in aerospace and defence but across all technology and innovation sectors.

Eric is involved in setting up several initiatives to bring Drone Sport (both virtually and ‘In Real Life’ ) to youth organisations and young people, and encourages them to ‘blaze their own trail’, whether that is to achieve sporting excellence, build a solid foundation for a career, or just to have fun.

Eric is proud to support IDEG and the opportunities that it represents, and looks forward to it becoming another pathway for young people to discover and access a sport that in turn, inspires them to be a part of our stronger, more technically capable future.
